A governed Cowork deployment doesn't give every employee the same blank-slate Claude experience. Instead, each person gets a profile that's been configured for their specific role. The profile includes business context — what the company does, how it operates, what the rules are — along with role-specific workflows, available connectors, and quality standards. When an employee opens Claude, it already understands their job.
What goes into a profile
- Role description and responsibilities
- Business rules and constraints specific to their function
- Available connectors (CRM, email, project management, etc.)
- Skills and workflows they can trigger
- Quality standards and output expectations
The profile is the interface between the employee and the governed system. They don't need to know how the guardrails work. They don't need to write their own prompts from scratch. They interact with a Claude that's been tuned for their context, producing output that meets the business standard. This is the difference between deploying a tool and deploying a system.
